Runner who got lost on Mt. Horne has words of wisdom for future hikers

A runner who was rescued by helicopter after getting lost on Mt Horne says she wants others to learn from her mistakes.

Allison Tai is a fitness professional and obstacle course runner, but things went awry Saturday when she got lost on a run from Port Alberni to Qualicum Beach.

Search and Rescue crews had to pluck her off the mountain, after she got turned around in the maze of logging roads in the area.

She says do your research, go prepared, don’t rely on Google Maps or your cell phone battery.

She’s planning on making a donation to Arrowsmith Search and Rescue and encouraging others to do the same.
