SD79 superintendent retiring after 37 years in public education

The superintendent of School District 79 is trading in his text books for a guitar and golf clubs.

Joe Rhodes is retiring which means the Cowichan Valley School District needs to find a replacement

The 60-year-old says it was a great run but it’s time for him to step down.

SD79 Board Chair Candace Spilsbury says a selection process will be discussed at a meeting next month.

Rhodes will remain in the position until the end of the school year or until somebody is hired to take over.
