A new book about Georgia Strait brings together a dozen experts in areas like biology, history, anthropology and geology — as well as some stunning photography — to give readers a look at life on, in, and around the Strait.

Dick Beamish, one of the editors of “The Sea Among Us“, says good knowledge leads to good decision making.

Beamish also says the contributors also devote a short chapter to the future.

Beamish says as scientists who don’t normally write for the general public they’ve been a bit surprised by the book’s success so far. He says a lot of credit for that goes to the high production values Harbour Publishing on the Sunshine Coast put into the hardcover.

Harbour worked with the Pacific Salmon Foundation to produce the book, and the Foundation is getting all the royalties.
