Chemainus Skate Park opens months before planned date

Cowichan Valley skateboards, BMX bike riders and inline skaters received a “gnarly” surprise on Tuesday with the opening of the Chemainus Skate Park months ahead of schedule.

North Cowichan’s director of parks and rec says the company that built the park was able to put all of their resources into the project because of the mild weather in the valley.

Ernie Mansueti says the park was designed by action sports athletes.
Mansueti says the $300,000 project has been in the works for over a decade and a half.
