A proposed quarry for Richards Trail is causing quite a stir.
The Pastula family is waiting for a mining permit from the province for their property, however, not everybody is on board.
North Cowichan mayor Jon Lefebure says he will be getting in contact with Mines Minister Bill Bennet again about permit stipulations. He says council members and residents are concerned about environmental impacts.
Catherine Pastula disagrees.
Pastula says they started off building a cistern, in case of a drought, and then sold some big rocks to pay for the cost of the work. She says they already have a mineral permit.
