Nanaimo RD wants broader study on Gabriola bridge concept

A study on a bridge between Gabriola and the main Island continues.

But, the Regional District of Nanaimo Board says the study isn’t looking at the right things. They’re asking the province to broaden the feasibility study.

Howard Houle is the RDN Director for Gabriola and the surrounding islands. He says they want a study of the socio-economic impact for Gabriola, Mudge and downtown Nanaimo.


About 600 Gabriola residents signed a petition asking the province to look at building a bridge, while more than 1,000 others have signed a petition opposing a fixed link.
