UPDATE: Escaped convict caught in Victoria

(Update 7:40am)

Victoria Police say escaped convict Michael Douglas Sheets is back behind bars.

He was picked up at a home in Victoria.  Police say he was arrested without incident.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Police on the Island are hunting for an escaped convict.

44 year old Michael Douglas Sheets was serving time at the William Head Institution in Metchosin for a 2004 arson that claimed the lives of two children in Calgary.

Officials say he got away from supervisors on an “escorted temporary absence” from the minimum security prison.

Sheets is white, 5′ 6″, 141 pounds with hazel eyes and grey hair. He also has several tattoos including a skull and wings, hearts, and “4 ever” on his right forearm.
