Bear carving stolen from Chemainus candy shop

A Chemainus candy shop is hoping whoever stole their beloved bear carving with return it.

Corporal Krista Hobday with North Cowichan/ Duncan RCMP says the carving was taken from the Hansel and Gretel Candy Shoppe on the night of February 27.

She says the carving weighs about 200 lbs, so it would probably have taken more than one person to pull off the heist.

Hobday says they’re still investigating but there’s no surveillance footage available, so they’re hoping someone will come forward.

She says anyone with information is asked to call North Cowichan/ Duncan RCMP at (250) 748-5522 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
