Valley man convicted of assaulting female bus driver

An assault against a Cowichan Valley Transit driver a little over a year ago has netted a 60 year old man a short stretch in jail, and probation.

Timothy Thorpe was found guilty in Duncan Provincial Court yesterday of throwing punches at a female driver who picked him up in Shawnigan Lake one night in January of 2014.

He’s been sentenced to 7 days in jail on top of time he’s already served, and a year’s probation.

This isn’t the end of Thorpe’s involvement with the courts.

Over the next couple of months, he also faces trail on charges for theft, mischief, breaking court ordered conditions and resisting arrest for a series of unrelated incidents.
