Ladysmith Council in no rush to figure out pay question

Councillors in Ladysmith are trying to figure out how much they ought to be paid.

Mayor Aaron Stone says in the past outgoing Councils voted on pay and benefits for the coming term just before an election.

That didn’t happen in 2014.

But, Stone says they decided this week to use the same approach as before.  Setting up a committee of community members to offer advice.

Stone says there’s no guarantee this will all end in a raise, however, he says he expects this Council will be putting in a lot of extra hours and that has to be considered.

Right now Ladysmith’s mayor is paid 24-thousand 172 dollars and councillors make 12-thousand 470.
