A Crofton man says after months of fundraising and a commitment of $250-thousand from the municipality, the newly-elected Council is trying to put the brakes on a planned skatepark.
Gerry Hurst says the community has backed the idea through dances, t-shirt sales and lots of other efforts, and the town’s youth need the skatepark.
Hurst says one councillor’s suggestion that Crofton kids use the new skatepark in nearby Chemainus is not workable, and the modular, aluminum skatepark in town needs to be replaced.
Hurst is encouraging residents to attend an meeting tonight (March 10th) at 6:30, at the Crofton Community Hall.
