CVRD wants to move Cowichan River wastewater outfall to Satellite Channel
The Cowichan Valley Regional District is looking into ways to move a wastewater outfall from the Cowichan River.
Chair Jon Lefebure says they’re working on a new wastewater management plan with the City of Duncan, Municipality of North Cowichan and Cowichan Tribes.
He says it’s critical to get the ball rolling now on any future project.
Lefebure says the best way to deal with the outfall would be moving it to Satellite Channel, an area south of Saltspring Island where the water will dilute the treated sewage better.
He says they’re hoping the provincial and federal governments will provide funding.
