A local conservation group will be looking for some help deciding a new name for an island.
The Cowichan Estuary Restoration and Conservation Association opened a new bridge on Saturday that replaced a man-made dike, and in doing so created an island.
Director Boon Collins says they want to have a contest to pick a new name.
The bridge allows fresh water to flow between the Koksilah and Cowichan rivers for the first time in over sixty years and should have a positive impact on the salmon population.
