High Winds Cause Numerous Power Outages

Strong winds overnight brought down power lines around the Cowichan Valley.

A few thousand homes and businesses were left without electricity early this morning.

BC Hydro crews were working throughout the valley to restore service at numerous locations.

The high winds also knocked out electricity in the Greater Victoria area, the southern Gulf Islands, Nanaimo, and across the Lower Mainland and on the Sunshine Coast.
