Assessment Underway Following Oil Leak into Cowichan River

The extent of contamination from an oil tank leak into the Cowichan River in the Town of Lake Cowichan is being investigated.

A small oil slick was spotted on the Cowichan River Tuesday and the town began looking for the source.

An assessment is underway to determine the impact on the river.
