Aeroplan miles can now help pay tuition for VIU students

Vancouver Island University students can now turn Aeroplan miles into money for their tuition.

VIU is the latest Canadian post-secondary institution to start working with a company called HigherEdPoints.

William Litchfield is VIU’s Director of Advancement and Alumni Relations.

He says going through HigherEdPoints, students can get a 250 dollar tuition credit for every 35-thousand Aeroplan miles including miles donated by family or friends.


Litchfield says the program they’ve set up also allows VIU Alumni to donate their Areoplan miles to the VIU Foundation, to help students in need and support other university fundraising initiatives.
