Duncan program aimed at preventing bullying, violence gets 1.7 million from Feds

The federal government is putting nearly 1.7 million dollars over the next five years into the Cowichan Valley Leadership and Resiliency Program.

The funding was announced on Thursday by Vancouver Island North MP John Duncan at a presentation at the VIU Campus in Duncan.

The program is designed to help 120 Duncan-area youth, between 12 and 17, overcome histories of violence and substance abuse.

It’s being delivered by the Community Options Society in a partnership with the Province, Island Health, School District 79 and community volunteers.
