BC Ferries considering changes to Southern Gulf Islands schedules

BC Ferries is considering some changes to the schedules in the Southern Gulf Islands.

Darin Guenette of BC Ferries says they’ll soon have two ships available for the runs handled by the ageing Queen of Nanaimo. And because they’re going to be double-enders they can load and unload faster and offer other advantages.

Ferries is launching an online survey on Thursday, as they work towards introducing a new schedule in 2016.

Guenette says they’re looking at the Tsawwassen to the islands, Swartz Bay to the Islands and the inter-islands routes.

There are no changes planned for Crofton-Vesuvius or the route to Thetis and Penelakut.
