No jail time for Crichton

A few women celebrated and one burst into tears Friday morning in Duncan Supreme Court as Campbell Crichton was sentenced on 7 counts of sexual assault

Crichton will have to submit his DNA for a 20 year sex offender registry, and comply with an extensive list of stipulations, but he won’t be spending any time in jail.

The former physiotherapist was given a conditional two year sentence with two years probation, after being found guilty in November of sexually assaulting 7 female clients.

His lawyer, Michelle Daneliuk, says he will serve his punishment in the community and will have to return to court in a year to review the sentence.

Crown prosecutor Leah Fontaine says she finds the conditional sentence with one year review on 2 of the counts highly unusual

The Crown had recommended two years jail time with two years probation.
