The BC Green Party has taken up the issue of a contaminated soil dump in Shawnigan Lake.
Andrew Weaver, the party’s MLA for Oak Bay-Gordon Head, quizzed the mines and environment ministers at the Legislature on Thursday.
He wanted to know about remediation plans for CVRD land South Island Aggregates has encroached on.Â
Mines Minister Bill Bennett says that work will be done before the dumping permit is finalized.
Weaver also asked about progress on soil and water testing at the site.Â
The environment minister says a sampling plan is ready, but, it won’t be possible for CVRD representatives to observe without the company’s permission
