Duncan man facing multiple drug charges

A man is in custody after North Cowichan RCMP seized a large amount of drugs from a home in the 2200 block of Jimmy Road in Cowichan Bay on Thursday.

It was part of an investigation by the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP Street Crimes Unit.

There was no one in the home when they searched it, but they found a large quantity of marijuana, meth, other drug trafficking materials, and a weapon.

Then on Friday, 33-year-old Joseph Smith from Duncan was arrested. He allegedly had several bags of cocaine, heroine and meth on him at the time of the arrest.

He appreared in Duncan Provincial Court today and has been remanded into custody until May 14.

He is facing multiple charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a prohibited weapon.
