Hundreds protest in front of Leg against toxic soil dump near Shawnigan Lake

Hundreds erupted into cheers on Wednesday after Cowichan Valley MLA Bill Routley spoke at a demonstration in front of the legislature in Victoria.

A mix of young and old held signs and sang together in an act of solidarity against a permit to dump toxic soil near Shawnigan lake.

Official Opposition and NDP leader John Horgan spoke against the province’s decision to allow South Island Agreggates to have a permit.

A petition with over 15,000 signatures was also presented at the Leg.
