Still no word if USW will start job action against CVRD

A strike deadline has come and gone, but still no move toward job action by United Steel Workers members at the Cowichan Valley Regional District.

The union is in a legal strike position after serving 72 hours notice last week…

The Regional District says it hasn’t had any indication from the union what its plans are, and the union hasn’t offered any comment on the situation.

CVRD CAO Brian Carruthers says after five bargaining sessions the two sides still remain apart on wage and benefit issues.
