Vancouver Island’s biggest medical marijuana company says it’s worried about the industry’s commitment to ethics.
Nanaimo’s Tilray is breaking away from the Canadian Medical Cannabis Industry Association, to form its own group.
Tilray CEO Greg Engel says a big issue for them was the Association’s tolerance of financial incentives for doctors – which he doesn’t hesitate to call kickbacks.
Engel says the new Canadian Medical Cannabis Council will be based on a code of ethics built around integrity, safety, quality, access, security and research.
