UPDATE: BC Ferries sailings return to service after Friday morning cancellations

—12:55 p.m. Dec. 23, 2022—

Sailings on many BC Ferries routes are resuming after a slew of cancellations Friday morning.

The ferry line cancelled multiple sailings on all major routes between Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland in anticipation of a winter storm forecast for the Island and South Coast.

Sailings on smaller interisland routes were also cancelled in advance.

As of around 9 a.m., BC Ferries said conditions were improving and sailings were resuming, however, some were facing delays related to the earlier cancellations.

Some boats still have cancelled sailings due to crewing unavailability.

More information about delays and capacity on boats can be found on the BC Ferries website.
