Cowichan Women Against Violence pleased with national initiative

The executive director of the Cowichan Women Against Violence Society is welcoming a new, nation-wide, initiative to help women trying to escape abusive situations.

Jane Sterk says the website sheltersafe.ca helps women seeking safety, quickly find a shelter in their area.


Sterk says a map shows telephone numbers and websites, while protecting the confidential locations of shelters.

She says the website also allows family, friends and neighbours to get in touch with somebody if a loved one is being potentially abused.
