Duncan intersection work wrapping up

The City of Duncan says that big construction project at the Ingram Street/Canada Avenue Intersection downtown is wrapping up on time, and on budget.

Work started in mid-March at the intersection, which had a bad accident history according to ICBC.

Duncan CAO Peter de Verteuil says it was also the site of a lot of conflicts between drivers and pedestrians, and a lot of the improvements will address those issues.

He says the City is pleased with how smoothly it’s gone.

de Verteuil says the City is also offering a big thanks to the downtown merchants for their patience during the work, and to the shoppers who continued to visit despite the traffic disruptions

The project came in at about 1.8 million dollars, and de Verteuil says after paving Tuesday, the line painting crews will be out today and Thursday and everything should be wrapped up Friday.

The completion of the work leaves just one big road project left on the list for this summer; the 650-thousand dollar upgrade to Cedar Avenue.
