Routley says premier’s good news photo-op glosses over hits taken by forest industry

NDP Forests Critic Bill Routley says the premier’s visit to Western Forest Products yesterday was a typical Christy Clark photo op…

Clark was at the Duke Point mill with the Forests Minister to “celebrate” the company’s 30 million dollar investment in mid-Island mills.

The upgrades at Duke Point, Chemainus and Ladysmith were actually announced by the company in early May.

Routley – the MLA for Cowichan Valley – agrees it’s good news.

And, he says Clark is keen to push good news for the industry, because it’s been rare under the Liberals .

Forests Minister Steve Thomson says WFP’s decision shows there is a balance happening between log exports and domestic processing.
