RCMP looking for suspect in purse-snatching

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are looking for the suspect in a purse-snatching earlier this month.

A 38 year old Duncan woman told police she was walking through Centennial Park early in the evening on June 1st, when a man came up to her just as she started to climb the stairs on the west side of the park.

He rode up on a bike and grabbed her purse. He then rode off, heading towards the bushes.

He’s described as:

•First Nations
•Skinny
•approximately 30 years old
•black track pants with one leg taped up
•black backpack

RCMP say too much time had gone by between the incident and the report to bring in a dog team.

And that has them reminding people to report crimes as soon as possible, to give police the best chance of getting evidence and finding suspects.

RCMP says the woman was not injured but she has lost her pink Coach purse and iPhone. They’re hoping someone will find the goods and turn them in to police.

If you have information call North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
