One Cowichan says they’re off to a good start when it comes to getting buy-in from local governments for a solar power initiative.
The group was in front of the CVRD Board recently to ask for financial support for people who want to go solar, through incentives or low-cost loans.
They’re also encouraging the CVRD to consider a demonstration project involving one of their own buildings.
Matt Price of One Cowichan says that would set an important example.
Price says the long-term goal is to work with all the local governments, and other groups like Cowichan Carbon Busters, to make the area the “Solar Capital of BC”.
One Cowichan says we’re already heading in the right direction given the success of recent efforts to organize bulk-buys of solar power equipment.
