Nanaimo-based Tilray lays off 61 employees

Tilray is laying off 61 employees.

The Nanaimo-based medical marijuana producer says they’ll get a quote “generous” severance package that includes a minimum of eight weeks pay.

The company says they’re changing their operating model to be more efficient, which includes eliminating some positions at their Nanaimo facility.

Even with the layoffs, Tilray remains one of the largest licensed producers in Canada, with more than 120 employees.

Tilray says the changes will not impact the thousands of patients they serve, the quality their products, or their plans to pursue clinical research.
