Work getting underway on artificial turf pitch for Sherman Road

Construction is getting underway on a new 1.3 million dollar artificial turf pitch at the Sherman Road soccer fields.

North Cowichan Council voted earlier this month (in June) to go ahead with the project, despite some objections over health and environmental questions around making the switch away from natural grass.

Mayor John Lefebure says it was a carefully thought out decision.

The Cowichan Valley Soccer Association says it will use a rotation system to make sure all teams and age groups get an equal mix of time on natural and artificial turf
