61 y/o man dead after crash near Ladysmith

The BC Coroners Service says a 61-year-old man has died after the motorcycle was he riding was involved in a serious crash on the Trans Canada Highway just north of Ladysmith.

It happened on the afternoon of June 30th, and caused the highway to be shut down in both directions so two air ambulances could pick up patients.

The man was critically injured and died in hospital July 4th. His name has not been released.

A 61-year-old woman who was a passenger on the motorcycle remains in hospital with serious injuries. Her name won’t be released.

An investigation by RCMP South Island Traffic Services is still underway, but so far it appears the southbound Harley collided with a vehicle stopped at the intersection of the Highway and Oyster Sto-Lo Road.
