Duncan tree fallers getting support from Sunshine Coast community

A crew of tree fallers from Duncan fighting the Old Sechelt Mine fire are being treated to meals at the Sechelt Band Community Hall, thanks to a groundswell of support from the community.

Dawn Rorick’s husband Mike is a faller with Alternative Forest Operations, based in Duncan. His crew has been contracted to take down dangerous trees.

She says when they first arrived in Sechelt, there was nowhere for them to have breakfast, but a request on the public Facebook page “Sechelt Forest Fire” prompted a quick response.

The Sechelt Band Community Hall is now serving breakfast and dinner daily for emergency personnel involved in fighting the fire.
