More local governments buying carbon offsets through Community Marketplace

Duncan, Ladysmith and Islands Trust have taken advantage of the Cowichan area’s Community Carbon Marketplace to meet their targets for 2014.

The Marketplace was set up by Cowichan Energy Alternatives in 2012, with Duncan and Ladysmith among the first local governments to sign on.

CEA’s Bryan Roberts says by using the Marketplace the local governments are also helping support greater use of alternative energy sources.


Roberts says local organizations like the Cowichan Bio-Diesel Co-op are among the “sellers” in the Marketplace.
