SRA looking for injunction against soil dump, claiming evidence of conflict with assessments

The Shawnigan Residents Association is going to be in BC Supreme Court Monday arguing for an injunction to prevent South Island Aggregates from operating its contaminated soil dump.

The Association says they’ve got evidence suggesting a conflict of interest between the company and the firm that did the environmental assessments for the project

President Calvin Cook says it puts the results from Active Earth – which the Association already disputes – in more serious doubt.

South Island Aggregates officials have said publicly that the document the SRA is pointing to as evidence of the conflict is being misinterpreted.

The SRA and the CVRD already have court cases in the works to get the facility shut down permanently.
