Port Alberni RCMP arrest three as investigation continues in woman’s death

A woman is dead, and three people are sitting in an RCMP holding cell after an early morning incident in Port Alberni.

Police say they had a call about a fight around 1am, Wednesday. When officers got there they found a badly injured woman. She was rushed to hospital, but couldn’t be saved.

Port Alberni RCMP arrested three people shortly afterwards. They say it appears the fight involved people who all knew each other.

This investigation is in its infancy, but our officers have made solid progress in determining what happened, and identifying those responsible, says Inspector Mac Richards, Detachment Commander. This appears to have been an altercation between a group of individuals known to each other, therefore we do not believe there is any risk to public safety.

RCMP are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has information to call Port Alberni RCMP at 250-723-2424.
