Cowichan Tribes mark completion of water/sewer project

The Cowichan Tribes are celebrating something most of us take for granted… safe drinking water.

A ceremony this morning marked the completion of water and sewer system upgrades to the Trestle and Wilson Roads area, which has been under a boil water order for more than a decade.

Cowichan Tribes has been working with the City of Duncan, the Municipality of North Cowichan, and Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada on the upgrade project.

“This has been an ongoing project for at least 35 years and it’s now complete,” says Chief William Seymour. “The completion of this project is a good step in bringing safe services to our community members.”

There are still 6 other communities in Cowichan Tribes on boil water orders.
