Green MLA Andrew Weaver says analysts at the Ministry of Environment now have all the results of testing he did near the site of a controversial contaminated soil dump in Shawnigan Lake.
Weaver says he met with ministry officials just a few days after the public meeting where they released their results.
Weaver’s testing caused a stir at the meeting, and he says the hope now is that the Ministry will agree more tests are needed.
Weaver’s also not ruling out doing more on his own.
Audio PlayerRight now there are two active court cases involved the soil dump permits for South Island Aggregates. One launched by the Shawnigan Residents Association and another by the CVRD.
Weaver says given the tremendous pressure from the Shawnigan community, and the pending court cases, the government should be treating this as a top priority.
