Salt Spring woman airlifted to hospital after crash involving bus

A 33-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital on Friday morning after a crash involving a BC Transit bus and a van on Salt Spring Island.

Police say the incident happening around 9:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of Fulford Ganges Road. They say the woman, a resident of the island, was the only person in the van…and her injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

Salt Spring RCMP say the bus driver also suffered minor injuries in the crash…while the three people on the bus didn’t get hurt.

Police say an early investigation indicates the northbound van hit the southbound bus after crossing over the centre line…which ended up causing the bus to swerve off the road.

Anyone with more information is asked to call the Salt Spring RCMP.
