City of Duncan moves to Stage 3 water restrictions

The City of Duncan has implemented Stage 3 watering restrictions as the province and East Vancouver Island start to move towards Drought Level 4.

According to the city, residents are being asked to refrain from watering lawns, vegetable gardens, fruit trees, ornamental trees, shrubs, and flower gardens with conventional irrigation and sprinkler systems.

They add hand watering is still allowed in some instances but only for one to two hours a day and some may need special permits.

Hand watering for vegetable gardens and fruit trees is limited to two hours a day, but shrubs, trees, ornamental trees, and flower gardens can only be watered one hour per day.

New lawns require special permits and according to the city’s website must be obtained prior to Stage 2.

For a complete list of restrictions and how to help conserve water visit the City of Duncan’s website.
