Local area plans in spotlight at municipal council meetings

North Cowichan and Duncan councils recently made some decisions impacting a pair of local area plans.

Duncan mayor Phil Kent says Council made a change to the official community plan so that it includes a bylaw for the University Village Local Area Plan.

Meanwhile, North Cowichan mayor Jon Lefebure says the Crofton Local Area Plan has been finalized after years of work. He says the plan will help improve the area’s sustainability.

Lefebure says the plan is a product of many public consultations…as Crofton residents did a great job of voicing their opinions and concerns about the community’s future.
