CVRD begins AAP to purchase Shawnigan Village Water Works

The CVRD wants to borrow 3.2 million dollars to purchase the Shawnigan Village Water Works.

They’ll do this through an Alternative Approval Process (AAP) that starts August 7th and ends September 23rd.

The CVRD estimates the annual cost to residential property owners on the water system would be $1,300 per household yearly.

The APP will succeed unless at least 10% of people in the area oppose the CVRD purchasing the water system.

If you live in the area and want to have a say in the APP, you can submit an Elector Response Form to the CVRD office by September 23rd.

The CVRD says the assets of the Shawnigan Village Waterworks are worth around $9,000,000.

You can find the elector response form on the CVRD website.
