Duncan DQ raises over $18,000 for BC Children’s Foundation

Duncan Dairy Queen says they’re proud of the community for helping support BC Children’s Hospital after selling over 1,900 Blizzards.

Miracle Treat Day kicked off across the province to help the Children’s Miracle Network which helps raise funds for children’s hospitals, medical research, and community awareness of children’s health issues across North America.

Dairy Queen owner Travis Berthiaume says despite being a bit shy of their goal, they were still able to raise a significant amount to help support such a worthy cause.

“We sold 1,911 Blizzards which is two shy of last year, but still a huge success,” he says. “We made $14,000 in sales, and an additional donation of $4,200 by people for a total amount of $18,200.”

Berthiaume says this year his staff worked extra hard, from start to finish, to ensure the day went smoothly to help raise funds.

“My staff started early right through until 10 p.m.,” he says. “Then they were back in the next day, picking up where they left off.”

He says, typically two trophies are handed out in North America, with one going to a recipient in Canada and one in the USA, and last year his store was fortunate to win.

Last year more than $280,000 was raised for the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
