Cowichan Foundation to hold local poetry showcase this September

The Cowichan Foundation is holding a showcase to highlight the three winners of the 2024 MC Poetry and Spoken Word Competition. 

Daniel Varga with the Foundation says that the valley has immense talent, and they look forward to showing that off. 

The showcase is happening on September 19th at 7 pm in the VIU Cowichan Campus Theatre. 

Varga says that the contest has been running for 3 years and was inspired by Michael Coleman, the founder of the Cowichan Foundation. 

Nanaimo’s Poet Laureate is the keynote speaker, there will also be a 50/50 and a silent auction. 

Entry for the showcase is $10 and you can purchase tickets on the Cowichan Foundation website.
