Conservatives go with Barker to run in Cowichan-Malahat-Langford

The Conservatives have chosen former Duncan City Councillor Martin Barker as their candidate in the new riding of Cowichan-Malahat-Langford.

Party officials say more than 275 members turned out for the weekend nomination meeting.

In a statement released shortly afterwards Barker said,  “I thank the members for their confidence in me. I’m pleased to be part of the winning Team Harper campaign and look forward to taking my seat in the House of Commons as the first MP elected in this new Vancouver Island riding.”

With Barker in the races, all four major parties now have their candidates in place.  The others are the NDP’s Alistair MacGregor, Maria Manna of the Liberals and Green Fran Hunt-Jinnouchi.
