Economy one of the top issues Nanaimo – Ladysmith candidates are hearing

We’re still a week away from the halfway mark of the election campaign, and in Nanaimo – Ladysmith the main party candidates have been hard at work since before the writ dropped.

The NDP’s Sheila Malcolmson says her party is best placed to tackle a couple of issues resonating locally around value added jobs and protecting the social safety net.

Mark MacDonald of the Conservatives says the economy is their strength, and much of that comes from leader Stephen Harper.

Liberal Tim Tessier says he’s hearing voter raise a lot of issues tied to the economy.

Paul Manly is the Green candidate, and he says he’s been hearing about both the environment and the economy.
