Local chamber of commerce calling for safety upgrades on Malahat

A string of recent accidents on the Malahat have the Duncan-Cowichan Chamber of Commerce calling for more safety upgrades on highway.

President Julie Scurr says lengthy closures have an impact on the Cowichan Valley’s economy.

The Cowichan Regional Visitor Centre’s Kirsty Grant says her friends experienced the problem firsthand.

The Chamber says head-on collisions will continue to be an issue if medians aren’t paced along that stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway.
