Duncan mayor Michelle Staples named chair of Island Coastal Economic Trust

The Island Coastal Economic Trust has appointed a familiar face from the Cowichan Valley to be its chair. 

The trust has appointed Duncan Mayor Michelle Staples to chair the trust which has been a serving member of since 2018.

“Coming into the role as Chair of the Island Coastal Economic Trust is both an honour and an exciting challenge.”

Staples says that outgoing chair Aaron Stone will be missed, and she thanked him for his contributions to the trust.

“We have an incredible board of directors,” says Staples, “and we have all benefited from the past 4 years of Chair Aaron Stone’s leadership driving our Trust towards innovative solutions for coastal communities.”

Along with her role as Mayor of Duncan Staples, she also serves on the Cowichan Watershed Board and the BC Climate Solutions Council.
