Changes to Ladysmith Festival of Lights promises a sophisticated future

Fireworks are an integral part of the Ladysmith Festival of Lights but residents will have to do without them for this year.

According to the organization’s social media, changes in the permitting process have forced sponsor Ladysmith and District Credit Union to find another solution, but in the post they say they have already found one alternative.

“Moving forward we’re excited to announce that, thanks to the LDCU’s continued dedication to Light Up, we’re adding live street entertainment along 1st Avenue from 4 to 6 p.m.,” they say.

Board member Laura Goodwin says entertainment this year will bring a sophisticated, unique style to celebrations for all ages.

“We’re thrilled to have so many acts to choose from, which allows us to create a truly custom and dynamic experience for Ladysmith,” she says.

The festival is scheduled to start on Nov. 28, as both the organizers of the festival and credit union work to embrace new ideas going into the holiday season.
